Privacy Policy
Effective: February 2025
ScreenSnapShot is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data our Chrome extension accesses, how it's used, and what we do not collect.
1. Information We Collect
We do not collect any personal information.
ScreenSnapShot processes screenshots entirely within your browser. No screenshot data, browsing history, or personal information is ever transmitted to our servers or any third party.
The only data stored is a local payment status flag (paid/unpaid) managed by our payment provider, ExtensionPay, which is stored in Chrome's chrome.storage.sync.
2. Browser Permissions Explained
Active Tab (activeTab)
This permission allows the extension to access the content of your currently active tab, but only when you explicitly click the extension icon. It is used to measure the page dimensions and capture the visible viewport. The extension cannot access your tabs in the background and has no access to tabs you haven't activated.
Scripting (scripting)
When you initiate a capture, the extension injects a small script into the active tab to:
- Measure the total page height
- Scroll to each viewport position
- Temporarily hide fixed/sticky elements (like navigation bars) so they don't repeat in every captured frame
All injected code is removed automatically after the capture completes.
Downloads (downloads)
Used exclusively to save your finished screenshot as a PNG or PDF file to your computer via Chrome's standard download mechanism. The file is saved directly to your device — no data is uploaded anywhere.
Offscreen (offscreen)
Chrome extension service workers cannot access the DOM or Canvas API. This permission creates a hidden offscreen document that provides the Canvas API needed to stitch captured viewport images into a single full-page screenshot and to convert PNG images to PDF format. The offscreen document has no network access and processes data entirely in memory.
Storage (storage)
Used by our payment provider (ExtensionPay) to cache your purchase status locally in chrome.storage.sync. This stores only a simple paid/unpaid flag — no personal information, no browsing data, no screenshots.
3. Third-Party Services
ExtensionPay / Stripe
Pro feature purchases are processed by ExtensionPay, which uses Stripe for payment processing. When you purchase Pro:
- You are redirected to a secure ExtensionPay checkout page
- Payment details are handled entirely by Stripe
- The extension never sees, processes, or stores your credit card information
- Only a payment confirmation token is stored locally
For details on how these services handle your data, see:
4. Data We Do NOT Collect
- ❌ Screenshots or captured images
- ❌ Browsing history or page content
- ❌ Personal information (name, email, etc.)
- ❌ Analytics or usage telemetry
- ❌ Cookies (the extension sets no cookies)
- ❌ IP addresses
- ❌ Device fingerprints
5. Data Storage
All screenshot processing occurs in your browser's memory and is discarded when you close the extension popup or editor tab. No data is persisted to disk by the extension itself (unless you explicitly choose to save a file via the Downloads API).
6. GDPR & CCPA Compliance
Since ScreenSnapShot does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, the requirements of GDPR and CCPA regarding data access, deletion, and portability are inherently satisfied. If you have purchased Pro features and wish to inquire about your payment data, please contact ExtensionPay or Stripe directly, or reach out to us and we will assist you.
7. Children's Privacy
ScreenSnapShot does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The extension collects no personal information from any user.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
